My Best Ex-Friend

Written by Mike Gallego

Have you ever lost a friend? I mean, you got into a fight with a friend and it seemed like it was too impossible to restore the friendship again.

Second year of high school, I was best friends with somebody named Paolo. He was well thought-out to be the most popular in our batch, and he was. I already forgot how everything happened, all I recall is that we had a really big misunderstanding and both of us were too prideful to acknowledge our mistakes.

Yesterday, we met again in school. He was there to receive his award for being an outstanding student and, of course, to say goodbye to our teachers. He is already leaving the country this coming May 2008 and yesterday may possibly be our last meeting. We did the high-five for like five times that day. I was really overwhelmed during that time because I never expected it could happen again. Although we were not able to express the necessary words like "thank you" and "I'm sorry" to each other personally again (yeah, again), we just did it on the phone after he left the school.

Now he is more comfortable about leaving and readier for his flight! Cool closure, was it not? After 3 months of giving each other a cold and a bit impersonal treatment, imagine that!

Those who got angry or mad at him because of the incident (I know there are some), I want you to have your faith back in him. Pray that he may have a safe trip and a wonderful life in U.S. as well. And to you! If you happen to read this, always bear in mind what I told you.

OK. that is all for today's blogging.

Maybe, the two of you just needed
the time to think about the
fight. Three months is long
enough to understand mistakes you
should avoid doing ever again. I
hope that Paolo will have a good
stay in the U.S.

it was a long sucky and complicated 3 months. that won't ever happen in my life again, i hope. coz it brings so much hurting and unhappiness.

God bless.

thanks for that. anyway, i know the feeling. losing a friend unjustly gives such a bad feeling. :( good luck with your ex-friend. just pray, that's what i've been doing since it began. yeap, i still do until now and i'll always. just depend on Him for he knows better. ;)

gallego, how i can't believe you forgive a very frantic, demonic, and paranoid person.

despite of all the evil things he's been telling about you.

i don't know if i would be happy for you or be sorry.

take heed on your decisions.

-- your true best friend.

aww. best feeling ever!
to get back in good terms with an old friend. :)

KYM, but the problem is when your friend does no longer consider you as a friend. yes, we got Okay BUT reconciliation could still be so far to achieve since many people want to meddle and it critically makes things damn complicated. but at least, we are somehow OKAY now.

yes.. time fixed our gap. After a few weeks we have moved on and left those stuff behind. It's great that guys do not hold any unnecessary grudges which made it easier for us to catch things up and be friends again.

i salute you. kasi hindi mo hinayaan ang sarili mo na tapunan siya ng putik. ngayon, nirerequest mo pa ang mga tao na wag magalit or what sa kanya. ikaw pa ang naglilinis ng duming siya din ang nagdulot. i salute you mike!

thanks ken. i salute him too. no matter how depressing the quarrels had been to us. he still played a very significant part in my life. i learned a lot of life lessons with him and that's a reality i could never separate away myself from. tolerance, pare. TOLERANCE.
